Height Comparison Chart: Compare Heights to Scale
Type a name and a height for each person and see everyone side by side, drawn to the same scale. Use feet and inches or centimeters, pick a figure and a color, and save the chart as an image or share it as a link.
- Average U.S. man is the tallest at 5′ 9″ (175.3 cm).
- Average U.S. woman is 14 cm (5½ in) shorter than Average U.S. man.
Everything is drawn in your browser. Names and heights are not uploaded or saved; a shared link carries them in the part of the address after the # sign, which browsers do not send to the server. Figures are simple shapes scaled to the heights you enter, so they show the difference in height, not anyone’s build.
How to compare heights
Enter each person’s height, then change the name, figure and color if you like. Add up to eight people. The chart redraws as you type, with a dashed line at the top of each head so small differences are easy to see.
- Switch Units to enter centimeters instead of feet and inches.
- Inches accept halves, such as 5 ft 9.5 in.
- Copy share link saves the whole comparison in the link.
- Download PNG saves an image for messages and social posts.
Reading the chart
The left edge is marked in feet and the right edge in centimeters. Every figure is drawn from the floor line to the height you entered, using one scale for the whole chart, so a 6-inch difference always looks like the same gap. Below each figure you will find the height in both units, and the list under the chart gives each difference from the tallest person.

A height chart for any group
Compare yourself with a partner, check how a child has grown next to a parent, line up characters for a story, or see how a team stacks up. The two people already on the chart are the average measured heights of U.S. men and women aged 20 and over: 175.3 cm (about 5′ 9″) and 161.3 cm (about 5′ 3½″), from the CDC’s 2015–2018 survey.
Feet and inches or centimeters
One inch is exactly 2.54 cm. The chart keeps every height in centimeters and shows feet and inches rounded to the nearest half inch, so switching units does not change the drawing.

A few helpful answers
Before you begin.
Is the height comparison drawn to scale?
Yes. Every figure on a chart uses the same scale, from the floor line to the height you enter, so the gaps between people are proportional. The figures are simple shapes and do not show anyone’s build.
How many people can I compare?
Up to eight at a time. Press Add a person for each new row and Remove to take someone off.
Can I use centimeters?
Yes. Set Units to Centimeters. The chart always shows both units under each figure.
How do I share or save my comparison?
Copy share link puts the names, heights, figures and colors into the link. Download PNG saves an image, and Print or save as PDF opens a print page.
